Banger to bespoke - Your weekly dose of automotive nourishment

Car meet season is upon us

Social spotlight 📱

This ‘95 Range Rover convertible was custom-built by renowned German firm Styling Garage and is believed to have been commissioned in secret for Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei. Is this bespoke creation the great-grandfather of the Evoque convertible?

Car of the week 💰

This Aston Martin Valour is 1 of the 110 units produced to celebrate the brand’s 110‑year heritage. It produces over 700hp from its twin‑turbo 5.2L V12 mated to a 6‑speed manual. It blends brutal retro styling with carbon‑fibre bodywork and analogue purity. Sound enticing? You better have a chuck of change in the bank, because this one is nearly £1.5m.

Website of the week 💻

Summer has solidly arrived, cars are starting to emerge from their winter hibernation and car meets are in full swing. If you end up with a free evening or weekend, it’s well worth checking this website which collates loads of car meets and allows you to find ones local to you.

Small screen scene 📺

Yup, that’s exactly what it looks like. Supercar Driver arranged for a drag race between the 288 GTO, F40, F50 and the Enzo. It doesn’t appear that they left it all at the track, but it still makes for a spectacle.

Seen in the wild 👀

Not a car of particular significance, but a rare sight on the road these days. This scrappy example of an E34 touring was parked outside a similarly scrappy shop. At the point of writing this I couldn’t find a ‘normal’ version for sale, only an AC SCHNITZER spec 540i for £30k. I don’t have much more to say, but it caught my eye and looks appealingly practical.
