BMW to Bugatti - Your weekly dose of automotive nourishment

Would you buy your kid a €90k Bugatti?

Social spotlight 📱

The picture doesn’t really do it justice, so you’ll just have to check it out for yourself, but what you’re looking at here is a pickup truck with a bonnet-exit exhaust blowing smoke O’s. Impressive.

Car of the week 💰

One of reportedly only three DB6 Shooting Brakes bodied by FLM Panelcraft, this example was sold at a recent RM Auction in Paris, fetching €440k. Would you use your DB6 shooting brake to carry around a set of IKEA drawers?

Small screen scene 📺

In this video, the Top Dead Centre crew fix everything that’s wrong with their Porsche Cayenne workhorse, and I’ve gotta say, those early Cayennes are looking increasingly attractive as a prospect. They’re reportedly quite capable off-road, relatively reliable and those fried egg style headlights don’t look quite so bad after 20 years.

Product of the week 🎁

This may look like it should feature in ‘car of the week’ but it’s not actually a car, well not a full sized one anyway. This is a ‘toy’ car, for (very lucky) children aged between 5-15. This Bugatti Type 57SC was also sold at the RM Auction in Paris and commanded €90k. It’s 2:3 scale so it’s still quite big, it’s powered by a 196cc engine and can manage 35kmph, plenty to be exploring the estate that said child presumably lives on.

Seen in the wild 👀

I like the numberplate ‘FUN’, no doubt! I spotted this BMW E31 840i parked up in Leamington Spa. I thought they had a V12, but that was saved for the 850i, the 840i ‘only’ has a 4.0L V8. It has pop-up headlights and a boxy wedge-shaped design, it couldn’t be more 90s if it tried. For one in good condition, it looks like you’ll be spending at least £15k but could comfortably be north of £20k.
