What if Tesla made a trophy truck...with a 5L V8
Ahhh a Tesla Cybertru…what? The Cycbertruck meets Trophy truck with Luke’s mad creation. I think it’s based on some flavour of Ford Ranger and utilises nothing but inspiration from an actual Cybertruck, but I think it’s my favourite Cybertruck. If you want to know more about it, he has a YouTube channel too, documenting the build.
Car of the week 💰
The Mk6 Ford Fiesta ST received rave reviews when released in 2013 and they now offer great value on the used market. There are a number of examples with both under 50k miles on the clock and available to buy for under £7,000. Given the Fiesta has been discontinued, how long will it be until values plateau or even start to increase?
Website of the week 💻
You’ve ended up in a debate in the pub; which car had bigger brakes? Which car has the better power-to-weight ratio? You don’t trust Wikipedia and they don’t have the obscure stat you’re looking for anyway, whether it’s the compression ratio of a Ginetta G40 or the front brake diameter of a Golf Tdi, Carfolio has you covered. It may look like it was designed in powerpoint, but it’s worth adding to your favourites for that moment when you need to settle a debate in the pub.
Small screen scene 📺
The Fiesta was discontinued in 2023, ending a 47 year life on a high with one of the best small hot-hatches of recent years. In this video that final boss Fiesta ST is compared with the first (truly hot) Fiesta of the 90s. Those green accents of the original looks 👌 but the performance of the latest model are hard to resists. Weirdly, the common Fiesta has become a regularly stolen car now, to harvest for spare parts which are in short supply. Who would have thought it.
Seen in the wild 👀
Spotted at a local pub, this 1965 Jaguar E-Type had an incredible patina; the paint was rough, there were patches of rust and there were dings and dents across the whole body. It would be easy to criticise, but I love the honesty of this car and the fact that it’s clearly used and not just polished. There were some elements that I wasn’t a huge fan of, like the duct tape fix on the roof, but it would look odd with a box-fresh roof so what do you do!? There are some incredible examples currently available on Auto Trader, starting from around £65k. If the Willow Green one is still on the market, fancy going halves with me?
