GTV to GTA - Your weekly dose of automotive nourishment

A week of red cars

Social spotlight 📱

Another week, another car that makes you rub your eyes because something doesn’t quite look right. I shared this build a while ago, but it’s now complete and driving - it’s styled like a HotWheels Tooned car, which is why it looks cartoonish. I hope he has A/C because with that amount of glass it’s going to get very hot in there in the summer!

Car of the week 💰

Alfa’s 156 GTA Sportwagon boasts a hand-built 3.2 L "Busso" V6 (250 hp), lightweight suspension, Brembo brakes, and quick steering rack (1.7 turns lock-to-lock). Fewer than 1,700 were made, making it a practical yet ultra-exclusive modern classic.

Meyers Manx, creators of the original dune buggy, have teamed up with renowned Porsche rally specialists Tuthill, to create something rather special: the LFG. It’s a mid-engined, four-wheel drive, high-end off-road machine

Hot off the press 📰

Autocar share their view of the best 1990s classics to buy in 2025. From Rovers to Porsche, BMWs to Vauxhalls, they believe there's a '90s star out there for everyone. The egg shaped Porsche headlights do seem to have come of age.

Seen in the wild 👀

I spotted this Alpine GTA parked outside a Champagne bottling plant in France. Built between 1985 - 1991, the Alpine GTA was Renault's first fully Alpine made car, featuring a rear mounted V6, lightweight fibreglass body and aerodynamically efficient styling. For a car that’s so rare, I was surprised to learn that they’re available from around £16k.
