Lotus to Land Rover (sort of) - Your weekly dose of automotive nourishment

Another week, another reworked Lotus

Social spotlight 📱

Remember when Land Rover took on the ‘Dragon Challenge’ with the Range Rover Sport? Ascending the 999 steps of the Tianmen Mountain in China. Cherry, a Chinese brand who make a Land Rover-esque looking vehicle, the X3L, tried to recreate the challenge with devastating results. All good PR for Land Rover, and demonstrates how capable the whole Land Rover range really is.

Car of the week 💰

It’s an Aston Martin DBR22. No, I hadn’t heard of it either. Designed to evoke the DBR1, there are only 22 worldwide and it’s currently listed for over £3m. Worth checking out the listing for some fantastic photos and more about this very special model.

Small screen scene 📺

Lotus seem to be the hottest topic in the Restomod(ish) scene at the moment. This is at least the fourth I’ve come across in the last couple of months, I wish the actual brand was as healthy as the restomod scene…anyway. Top Gear take a look around this seriously(!) reworked Esprit S1, built by start-up Encor.

Worth a visit 🚘

Let’s be honest, you haven’t even considered what you’ll be doing next May. You haven’t given much consideration beyond Christmas. Well if you want to attend Shedfest next year, you’ll need to give that some thought because the tickets have been released and they often sell out. It’s on May 2nd at Bolesworth Castle.

Seen in the wild 👀

The first Microlino I’ve spotted in the wild in the UK, it looks like something straight out of a Disney Pixar movie. Kinda silly. If you want a bug eyed, Isetta inspired EV, then you’ll need to be prepared to spend £20k.
