The sun is finally starting to appear, and despite the omnipresent threat of rain in the UK, us Brits have an unhealthy obsession with convertibles. The Mazda MX-5 has for a long time been both the primary subject of hairdresser jokes and secretly respected by the well-informed. With every generation, they seem to have gotten less rusty, and the lastest generation is now available for less than £9,000. Looks like a bargain to me.

The Mercedes 190E Evo II is reborn as a £730k restomod built by HWA. Not heard of HWA? You’re not alone. The company was formed by AMG co-founder Hans Werner Aufrecht, and is responsible for everything from the CLK GTR to the SLS GT3. It has also played a significant role in the development of modern hypercars such as the Apollo IE and Pagani’s Huayra R. So they have an incredible pedigree, enough to justify that price tag? Time will tell.

I promise I’ll give you a break from the 4C content for a bit, but just to round off the recent 4C focus, Sam from SeenThroughGlass took this one for a drive 8 years after owning his own and did it alongside the Alpine A110 which is surely the closest modern comparison. How do you think it’ll stack up?

This era of BMW 5-Series is maturing wonderfully and the Alpina B10 is a really special flavour of 5-Series. Alpina have created an interesting niche, often a notch down from true M-car performance but a couple of notches up in terms of luxury and comfort. This example comes with the perfect number plate too 👌 Based on what I can find on Auto Trader, this example is probably worth between £15k - £20k.
