Dacia take a big step outside of their comfort zone

Social spotlight 📱

Those Insta360 cameras can create some incredible perspectives, in this case though, they’ve turned an MX-5 into a blobfish. The video is actually quite good fun, the car drives around winking, looking like a character out of the Cars movie franchise. How would you use the Insta360 camera on a road trip?

Car of the week 💰

Racecar for the road is such an overused phrase it’s almost lost all sense of meaning, however the Ultima is certainly a racecar, just one that you can also use on the road. Not just a racecar, it looks like a Le Mans prototype and has performance to boot, even the ‘entry level’ spec will do 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds, with the highest spec bringing that all the way down to 2.3 seconds. They’re not cheap, but what an occasion every drive would be.

Website of the week 💻

Have you ever wondered if your car has featured on the big screen? IMCDb Internet Movie Car Database (not to be confused with IMDB) have aggregated each time any given model has appeared in a TV show or movie, so you can search your make and model and then decide what to watch next, a sensible prioritisation process I’m sure you’ll agree. The website's aesthetics are…dated, but it’s an interesting, albeit niche offering.

Small screen scene 📺

A Dacia, but not like you know it. Dacia are entering the Dakar Rally with the Sandrider, a vehicle which let’s be honest, doesn’t bear any similarities to the rest of their range. In this video Car magazine get a walkaround with none other than Sebastien Loeb, talking through the 360bhp power unit and the modular interior.

Seen in the wild 👀

This McLaren 720s was spotted hiding behind some bins in a North London mews street. It’s well hemmed in by bollards, so much so that it looks difficult to get into! McLaren’s don’t have the best reputation for reliability, but the 720s is considered to be a fantastic drivers car, despite the questionable reliability and being 7 years old, they’re still fetching over £100k.
