Another restomod showcased in this reel, this time from Mechatronik and based on the Mercedes SL Pagoda. They’ve done a subtle, but very comprehensive job of upgrading the 70’s SL and I must say, I love it. They even have a configurator if you want to build your own.

Car of the week 💰

Another EV has broken in to the car of the week. I recently visited a Lotus showroom and had a sit in the Eletre, it’s very plush inside. The entry level models race to 60 in 4.5 seconds, despite weighing over 2.5 tons and the top spec models achieve it in only 3 seconds. I love this shade of green and on the second hand market they’re available at close to half their new car RRP with very few miles. If their value keeps falling away, they could become an attractive prospect in the next couple of years.

Small screen scene 📺

Jack and Ethan of CarThrottle fame have really found their calling with their ‘All The Gear’ YouTube channel, they seem to specialise in converting small cars into campers and this one takes it to a real extreme. Very funny, and impressive.

Hot off the press 📰

A vehicle that was mostly eclipsed by the automotive press’s obsession with 1,000hp hypercars, FIAT have introduced the TRIS which is a small, electric pickup - cut from a similar cloth to the Citroen Ami and reminiscent of the Piaggio Ape. Initially only available for the Indian and African markets, there is a tease that it could come to Europe soon too.

I had no idea what I was looking at here, I possible could have guessed it was a Daihatsu but had no idea it was a Cuore. According to ‘how many left’ there are only around 25 left on the road in the UK and this is an even rarer TRXX variant featuring a turbocharged 660cc engine, sportier suspension, and aggressive styling with unique bumpers, side skirts, alloy wheels and AWD.
