Prototypes to Porsches - Your weekly dose of automotive nourishment

Would you have those wheels on your car?

Social spotlight 📱

Have you ever seen a set of wheels that you want…more? Apparently in the 90s, Michelin made a limited run set of wheels with the Michelin man in the centre, designed to fit small French cars. They’re impractical (and ridiculous) but their rarity now makes them a desirable asset. On the right car, I’d rock ‘em.

Car of the week 💰

I’m sure the Zenos has featured as car of the week previously, however it’s now featuring in an entirely new context. At the time of writing there are 2 listed on Autotrader and they’re both available for a shade under £20k. The new context is below in the Small Screen Scene, but spoiler alert, Zenos are back and…they’re far more expensive. Suddenly £20k looks like bargain of the century.

Small screen scene 📺

Here it is. The new(?) Zenos. It certainly looks familiar, but doesn’t look out of place, which is a testament to the original design, now over 10 years old but still looks contemporary. The new Zenos uses a Horse engine and carbon fibre panels, but it costs… £140k. You read that right. Check out the video for full details.

Hot off the press 📰

The 5 Turbo 3E is Renault’s homage to the heyday of the original Renault 5 Turbo - the ‘80s homologation car for Group B rallying. The one that looked like it was wearing someone else’s wheelarches and always smelled strongly of petrol because the 1.8-litre turbo four-cylinder sat in the cabin just behind your hips rather than under the bonnet.

There are notable differences here though; 540bhp rather than 180, and obviously, it’s electric.

Seen in the wild 👀

Spotted at a distance, hence the terrible quality of photo. This is a 1974 Porsche 911s. A quick search suggests that it’s probably worth around £60k, although it does look clean (from 100m away) and that must be a desirable, period colour. It’s funny to see quite how small it is relative to the Toyota Prius it’s parked next to.
