A German takeover this week
Arenāt there already enough restomod options!? According to REYN, no, no there arenāt. They presented their E31-based 858CSL at Monterey Car Week recently and thereās a lot to like, starting with the S85 V10 engine, the same engine used in the BMW M5 from 2005. There are some subtle styling mods like the slight ducktail spoiler, inspired by the E46 CSL, but there are some less subtle mods like the vents in the front. Do you think theyāve found the right balance?
Worth a visit š
RM Sothebyās are coming to London on Nov 1st - 2nd, the selection of cars on offer is as special as ever. The below Jaguar XKSS is estimated to sell for around Ā£10m š If thatās a little too much for you, they have some more affordable cars too, an F40 for Ā£2m or a Mercedes SL Gullwing for Ā£1.3m. So, something for everyone. The online catalogues always have incredible photography and tell brilliant stories of the cars.
Product of the week š
The AutoAlex crew have built out their merch store and one of the more recent additions (although already sold out at the point I checked!) are these high mileage hero stickers. Iām not usually a fan of stickers, but I really like this celebration of actually using and enjoying cars, rather than keeping them locked up and celebrating low mileage - a bargain at Ā£4 a pop. I canāt wait to see them in some surprising cars, imagine seeing a Caterham with over 100k miles š
Hot off the press š°
If you havenāt seen the McLaren and Ferrari releases over the last couple of weeks, where have you been!? Weāre just waiting on Porsche to complete the next generation of the Holy Trinity, but in the meantime this short article shows how these two compare. The Ferrariās styling has been a point of controversy, but thatās where my (imaginary) money would be going.
Seen in the wild š
The BMW E30 3-series is almost unanimously loved, but the mods on this one will divide opinion no doubt. They wouldnāt be for me, but they did get my attention. The gold BBS wheels (nearly) compliment the champagne paintwork and the louvres on the rear window are fitting of the era if not the model. These cars can suffer with rust, so those that remain in good condition have had good money spent on them and command a premium, E30 saloons on Auto Trader are all asking for more than Ā£10k.
