S-Class to Scamander - Your weekly dose of automotive nourishment
Have you ever seen anything like the Scamander scuttling across the countryside?
I appreciate this post looks underwhelming, you need to have the sound on 🔈️ , turn it up and then just bask in the glory of the V12 soundtrack…have you ever heard a Mercedes S-Class like that before!? The engine is very similar to the V12 fitted to the Pagani Zonda, so we shouldn’t be too surprised that it sounds like a thoroughbred racecar even if it looks more like a canal boat.

There are a couple of S1 Elises currently available for under £15k, which is hard to overlook. They aren’t immaculate examples, but that does give more permission to enjoy them without worrying about stone chips or maintaining originality. The example below comes with a number of performance upgrades and weighs an incredibly light 750kg. It would make a great summer toy, just saying.

It turns out Auto Trader have a secret corner of their website dedicated to classic cars. Not only that, they have a surprising collection of really special stuff listed; Ferrari F40, Jaguar XJ220 and Lamborghini Muira to name a few. What about some of the more affordable stuff though, Alfa Romeo Spider anyone?

The most unlikely TVR ever made? Harry Metcalfe takes this wild amphibious TVR Scamander for its first MOT in 12 years. This contraption was created by previous TVR owner Peter Wheeler, specifically to transport himself across the moors on his farm and also out to his boat on the lake. It looks like it’s straight off the set of a sci-fi film but I can very much assure you this is a real car, befitting of the British eccentricity that is TVR.

I thought I’d spotted a Max Power modded Porsche, but it turns out (according to a Porsche geek friend, you know who you are) that if this is what it looks like, then this is a 993 GT2, which makes it one of the most revered and valuable 911’s, selling for over £1.5m. If you’d like to know more about the 993 GT2 then you can watch more of Harry’s Garage because he had the honour of taking one for a spin.
