Lotus Eclat to Lotus F1 - Your weekly dose of automotive nourishment

Ever heard a car sing a song before?

Social spotlight 📱

Here’s a post that you should save for the appropriate moment. Imagine this, it’s your friend’s birthday, they love F1 and you want to suitably wish them a happy birthday but you don’t know how. What better way than simply sending them a link to this Lotus F1 car being revved to the tune of Happy Birthday? Thank me later.

Car of the week đź’°

Not a cheap car by any stretch and anything adorned with a prancing horse will require…ongoing investment, but does the 575M offer good value in the current market? It has a V12 engine producing over 500bhp upfront, a stylish Italian leather interior in the middle and a large boot for cross-continental roadtrips at the rear. They’re currently available for just over £60k, but being built in the early 00’s, they’re fast approaching that age where they’re crossing from old car to classic car, will their values rise accordingly?

The next in a series of capitulating corporate-backed YouTube channels, Donut has lost James, who has set up his own channel Speeed. The content of the video itself may not come as any great surprise, but it’s worth subscribing to his new channel if you enjoyed some of the classic Donut content.

Podcast of the week 🎙️

Podcasts seem to be multiplying at the same rate as YouTube channels at the moment and the evo crew have just joined the chat. The first couple of episodes have already been released, kicking off with Harry Metcalfe himself joined by the other founding member of evo talking about how evo came about and what life was like in the early days. A good listen, would recommend.

Seen in the wild đź‘€

Embarrassingly as a Lotus owner myself, I didn’t recognise this car. I thought it looked like a mash-up between a 70’s Ferrari and a TVR wedge, however it is in fact a Lotus Eclat. According to records, there are just over 100 currently registered on the roads in the UK, so it’s no surprise that there aren’t many available for sale. They start at just 15,000, but I imagine they may be expensive to maintain.
