Superbird to Supersport - Your weekly dose of automotive nourishment

A compilation of ‘Toyota Gazoo Airlines’, their Yaris GR flying off bumps, cruising through the air and soaking up the landings effortlessly. Incredibly impressive.

Car of the week 💰

The Plymouth Road Runner Superbird is a 70’s muscle car developed for NASCAR. It has a very pointy, aerodynamic nose cone, a hilariously tall rear wing for stability at high speeds, and was powered by a 426 HEMI. Initially controversial (obviously, look at it!) it is now highly sought after by collectors. This is “only” a replica, but has a genuine interior, a 7.0l engine and all the eye-catching aesthetics.

The Bugatti Bolide is as extreme as it looks. Weighing just 1,450kg and powered by an 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 engine producing 1,578bhp, it’s mind-bendingly fast. Ollie Marriage has the privilege of experiencing the £4 million hypercar on track, and is of Top Gear’s typically high quality production value. It looks so tight in there!

Hot off the press 📰

I’ve got a real soft spot for Morgan, and I love what they’ve done with their latest model, even if it’s £100k. You can read Top Gear’s take here “This is the brand-new Morgan Supersport; a BMW-engined sportscar soaked in Malvern’s long, storied history and garnished with real, actual usability Morgan hopes you’d want to sample every day.” Harry Metcalfe has created a video in Malvern too, worth checking out.

Seen in the wild 👀

I spotted this Morris Minor looking a little bit sorry in Leamington Spa. It’s a very classic shape, which is maybe no surprise given it was designed by Alec Issigonis of Mini fame. A quick Google suggests that it was Britain’s first car to sell over a million units across it’s various iterations. I thought they might be a very cheap way into classic motoring, but they’re more expensive that I expected.
