Subaru to S2ARY - Your weekly dose of automotive nourishment

How many turbos can you strap to a pickup truck!?

At this point I don’t know what’s real and what’s AI. Can this possibly be real? (it is, apparently)

Car of the week 💰

If you don’t recognise this rear end, you’re not alone. It looks bit like a Temu take on the NSX from that angle, I can’t say I’ve ever seen one before, but it’s a Subaru XT for sale on Auto Trader. It was sold during the late 1980s, was a futuristic, wedge-shaped sports coupe with a turbocharged flat-four engine, had typically Subaru all-wheel drive, and an innovative (at the time) digital dash.

Small screen scene 📺

Hagerty tell the story of the insane Cizeta V16. I saw one of these unusual cars in the flesh in California, it’s so wide to accommodate that massive V16 engine. “The world’s first 16-cylinder sports car. Designed by ex-Lamborghini engineers, it was Maximum Countach — outrageous Gandini styling, brutal horsepower, and just enough luxury to function as a car.”

Worth a visit 🚘

I recently went to a live recording of the Smith and Sniff podcast at the Tesla centre in Manchester and it was good fun. Although they currently don’t have any more live shows advertised, I’m sure there will be more coming soon.

Seen in the wild 👀

I’m partial to a Lotus, so this Emira in Seneca Blue caught my eye and I really liked the number plate, “SCARY”. They start at near enough £90k new, but are available from around £55k second hand. They look stunning in the flesh, truly a mini-supercar.
